The Melon Boat!

So, before you read any further, you must know this about me- I don't do anything half-hearted. (I mean, especially when it comes to photography, but also in the other jobs I've been given in this life.) One of my part-time jobs is working in the produce department of a grocery store, designing fruit & vegetable trays. I really love my job, even though it is sometimes physically taxing for me. Last week a lady called me & asked me to create a watermelon boat for her. I'd never done one before, and I wanted to be certain I did it right:

First, I had to pick a good melon, which isn't always easy-

Next, I carved my basic design, a picnic basket-

This next step, scooping out all the melon, was the most time consuming-

As you can see, also quite messy-

After that, I got to use a rather sinister looking tool to create the "spikeys"-

Which I'll admit, was pretty fun-

After the melon was done I made my fruit salad in layers, to prevent bruising-

Filled the basket, and we're done-

The customer was so delighted with her finished product she actually gave me hug!! Now that is a reward for a job well done!

Katie C- Class of 2011

We have really been blessed with such wonderful senior models so far! Katie is definitely cream of the crop! Not only did she pick out great outfits, but since she's a softballer, she was willing to do some fun stuff too! Enjoy! (For more go here: Facebook album)

You bring your catchers mask... you wear it!

I love how her blue eyes just make this normally "tough pose" so awesome-

And then we switched gears!

She had remarked that this pose looked a bit like something from "Twilight" so I had some fun in photoshop with this-
Oh those blue eyes!!!!
And I think this is my personal favorite-

Laura & Ben- June 2010 Wedding

It's sometimes so hard to pick what to share... I have over 500 wedding photos and I really must chose only a few to share. (Don't want your eyes to get tired!) So here are some highlights. (You can hop over to our facebook page for more, if you need more!)

This is a great one of the bride being escorted by not one, but two dads!

We're all laughing, because Ben's cell went off to remind him that he needed to be some place!

This one is so adorable... and Laura told me he was telling her how beautiful she was! *MELTS*

It was so hot out, but definitely fun:

Look at all those layers- and I thought I was hot in black pants!!

Sam caught this one- I love it:

Me, helping keep the dress clean!

These are just so much fun to do:

Possibly my favorite from the entire set-

Gotta enjoy those speech reactions!

Will he...

Oh yeah-

Had to share this one of the bride's step-dad hamming it up-

I'll end with this one of Laura helping release Ben from his tuxedo-
I'm so glad you love the photos! Thanks for letting us share in your special day!! ~Naomi
