So Mallory is one of my volunteers who let me use them as a model. I really was just using these sessions to familiarize myself with some new equipment and film, but the results really rocked my socks off! Hope Mallory loves these as much as I do! ~Naomi
I do some times love the wind!
This was just an afterthought shot, but I totally love it!

Honesty & Hard Work. (Warsaw, IN Photographer)
I'm going to state something that might make me a bit unpopular, but I don't care. Recently there was a new website that hit the photography world, and it has received a lot of attention. I read it, laughed, and moved on with my life.
What made this particular website so popular was that it spouted info that was ludicrous to most photographers, because we know what it truly means to become a decent one, and because it catered to the wants of those who don't.
There is no ten step program to becoming an amazing photographer- whether you shoot weddings or not. There are about ten billion different steps- and many of them are this: HARD. WORK.
I wanted to become a better photographer, so I started hitting the streets. I took photos of anything and everything. I moved back to film. I have this desire to not stop at where I am, but to move on and to hopefully knock your socks off! And reading blogs & websites that tell me to believe in myself aren't helping me get that way. Learning, studying, hard work, are helping me become who I want to be.
If someone tells you to believe in yourself, that's great! But believe that it also will take a ton of work to find out whether or not you are good at something. And when you realize you are, you can finally take a breath and recognize you did it! (But then you gotta go right back out and work hard again so you get even better!)

Things I See... Leap Day Wedding! (Warsaw, IN Wedding Photographers)
This is a little different from my normal wedding posts- this was a wedding I shot on film, so I chose to just blog my shots. (Sam's were great- probably mostly better than mine, but I thought it would be unique to present just what I saw, so I did.) Enjoy! ~Naomi

Courtney & Jeremy- Wedding Sneak Peek! (Warsaw, IN Wedding Photography)
We drove down to Nashville, IN, which is in Brown County, to capture Courtney and Jeremy's wedding photos. This will just be a tiny little slice of their day, but I hope it excites you for what is to come!
The sweet little wedding chapel where it all happened-
Gotta capture the bling!

Things I See... Miss Ellen (Warsaw, IN Child Photographer)
Ellen got the ultimate bonus a homeschool kid can get- time away from school to help a lowly photographer learn to shoot on film! She was a lot of fun and I hope she loves these as much as I do!
When I saw these boots I knew we HAD to use them!! Too cute!!
And, my personal favorite-
Thanks so much, Ellen, for being a model for me! I hope you had fun, and I hope you like the photos! ~Naomi

Cheryl & Bryan- Wedding Sneak Peek! (Warsaw, IN Wedding Photographers)
I love their clasped hands here-
Truly a sneak peek here- The bouquets smelled amazing!
Magic-
I love this expression here, and the hair! Gotta love the hair!
First kiss!
This grand exit started with bubbles-
And ended with silly string, and wind!
Cheryl & Bryan, I can't wait to share the rest of these with you! It was wonderful to be able to capture all the sweet moments that happened throughout your special wedding! You are surrounded by wonderful family & friends! It was an awesome experience to see the love that was with you on your wedding day! ~Naomi

Things I See... Childhood friends (Warsaw, IN Photographer)
Since I've been working more in film, and building confidence, I requested some volunteers to practice on. I was thrilled that Jamie volunteered, as she's been in front of my camera before & I know she is a great model, but also because it is great to catch up with friends.
Jamie and I have known each other for... well, probably at least 20 years. Childhood friend, then Facebook put us back in touch after years of just bumping into each other every couple years. She is a wonderful person- Wife, Mother of 3, and she was so excited to have the day off child-free, that I almost felt bad taking up her time!
Hope she loves these as much as I do.
Thanks, Jamie, for sharing your beautiful self with me! ~Naomi

To Pin or Not To Pin... (Warsaw IN Wedding Photographers)
This post could make me unpopular if I don't first state this- I LIKE Pinterest. Please don't get me wrong. It's a really great idea, and it is just plain fun to use. (I have a Pinterest account- Me!
and you are welcomed to follow me or check me out)
However, if you are using Pinterest, you may not be aware of some of the details and etiquette involved.
A couple weeks ago the internet (as I see it) exploded with articles by & for photographers about the evils and dangers of using Pinterest. Of particular interest was an blog post by a photographer/lawyer- Why I tearfully deleted my Pinterest Inspiration Boards and her follow up post after meeting with the creator of Pinterest, My Date with Ben Silbermann.
I'm linking this because I feel they are of interest if you use Pin Boards, and I cannot go into the legal detail she does. If you don't want to read it all, the bottom line is this- Don't PIN things that don't have a Pin It button. You could, in theory, be sued for pinning content that you don't own or have permission to Pin.
And tying in with that- If you are Pinning be sure you are doing so directly from the source. If you are taking the easy route and re-Pinning something, please be sure the Pin goes back to the original content. Aside from being polite, it ensures that the Pin is actually for something, be it an image, a recipe, or a tutorial. Nothing is more frustrating than clicking on a Pin to make homemade croissants, and finding that there is no recipe attached.
It's great to Pin! It's addictive to Pin! It's fun to Pin! Just be sure you are doing it right, and you know what you've agreed to, via the Pinterest Terms of Use before you find yourself in some kind of trouble.
To finish off, Pinterest's ToU declares that they own the copyright to any image that is pinned to a pin board. As a photographer, someone who creates images, that is frustrating, as I like to hang on to my rights, thank you. (It's fairly common for this to happen these days- Facebook takes the rights, as does Twitter) We decided to try adding a Pin It button to our blog posts for a while, to see if it was worth the advertising potential. So for now, you have my blessing to Pin from the Double K Blog! If we decide to stop, you'll see the Pin It button disappear, and from that point we'd appreciate you respect our decision to not Pin our work.
